marble flooring for refurbished residences
Cheval Gloucester Park, London
Cheval’s Gloucester Park property is an 11-storey block made up of 98 luxury apartments situated in Kensington. It was completely refurbished over two years and reopened its doors in early 2020.
The ground floor was totally remodelled by 3D Reid, the architect, with back of house spaces relocated to the basement allowing the creation of a new reception area, library spaces, a cinema, and a new gym. All of the apartments were also stripped back to the brick and refitted.
The inhouse Cheval design team collaborated with 1508 London to create interiors with the feel of 1920s London.
Lavish use was made of rich materials, including dark wood and marble flooring on the ground floor. stoneCIRCLE was commissioned by Beck Interiors to be the stone contractor for this part of the refurbishment, cutting marble slabs into planks and installing them in a herringbone pattern throughout the lobby and library areas. The majority of the floor was Turkish Calacatta and the rest was made of different colour stripes of Teos Green, Calacatta Tigre, Nero Marquina and Dark Emperador.
Upstairs, some of the apartment bathrooms were tiled from floor to ceiling using a Bardiglio-effect porcelain tile, and the shower threshold step and shower seat were fabricated in real Bardiglio marble. Others made use of Turkish Calacatta for the vanity tops and wall and floor tiling.
